An interesting sight at a local school

The other day we went out to visit a city neighborhood and came across some graffiti at one of the local schools – which happened to be almost 100% Arab, as opposed to Kurdish population. The graffiti said “Long live the great Jihad warrior Saddam Hussein”. I promptly got a spray can from another soldier and commenced to spray over the graffiti. The nearby kids seemed to enjoy me doing the spraying. It is hard to tell who actually still supports the “enemy” when I am out and about speaking with doctors, business owners, children, gas station operators, police officers, etc. Perhaps some of the people I speak with are pro-USA during the day but anti-USA at night – I don’t know, probably will never know. The main thing I would like to see amongst the general population, regardless of their feelings towards the U.S. forces is that they get out and vote in October…and then again in December.

Sunday, September 11th. Spray some extra paint over that graffiti from me!

Earlier today, accompanied by my grandson, I delivered a cake to our local fire station which we've done for the last three years (in rememberance of September 11th, 2001). Imagine the little lad's delight when he was treated to a personal tour of the station and a detailed explanation of what the firefighters job is. He also got to sit in the driver's seat of a firetruck and sound the horn :-) No guesses as to what he wants to be when he grows up!

Keep safe.

Love,

Mum

Tuesday, September 13th. Here we are prepared for a Category One Hurricane. In storage: Gallons of water, canned goods, and an assortment of board games to play, should there be a power cut. My way of dealing with the possibility of a hurricane is to get busy, in fact, very busy, doing all kinds of cleaning jobs inside the house. Obviously, the psychological reasoning for this is that while I'm focusing on cleaning, I'm not thinking about the aftermath of a hurricane. Hey, the inside of the fridge never looks so clean as it does before a hurricane warning! Meanwhile, hubby gets busy making sure our stock of batteries is 100%, e-mails are answered and the cars are full with gas. Our grandson has been busy today painting pictures of what he thinks a hurricane looks like :-)

Keep safe.

Love,

Mum

Wednesday, September 14th. It's 10 o'clock in the morning, and the hurricane is passing over us as I type. Fortunately, it's weakening and going north, away from us. So far, we haven't lost power, but we're expecting it to go at any moment. And, yes, I'm still cleaning--right now, the pantry is looking good!

Keep safe.

Mum

Thursday, September 15th. It's 2 p.m. and all is well. We were very fortunate and did not have any damage to our home. In fact, throughout the hurricane, we didn't once lose power which was a great relief. Others--in another county not too far away--lost power immediately and are still without. Emergency power, rescue, and ambulance crews were standing by to help and will work around the clock to help those in need. As I said, we were very fortunate.

Keep safe.

Mum

Sunday, September 25th. We hope your weekend has gone well. Our weekend included sharing Chinese food, birthday cake, and ice-cream with a (soon-to-be) four year-old. All this, together with presents to open and the company of relatives and friends made the birthday girl very happy :)

Mum

Well I am still here after sharing with you all my ailments , although the big ‘six O’ has been and gone it is the mothers of all birthdays : I feel so old and its time to get some comfy slippers and sit by the fire reading poems and sip hot chocolate and talk about the old days, plus a blanket over my knees plus I can do what ever I like, I can be a pest all day if I want, I also can make out that I have been very busy when in fact I haven’t.......I am also acting very odd as yesterday I got up kissed the hard boiled egg and hit my woman on the head with the spoon.!!
We all went to Centre parks last week and had a great time, We had Indian Meals every day and in the mornings it was my chore to go to the camps supermarket/bakery and get the 'freshly baked' English bloomer loafs for breakfast which went well wrapped around English bacon and mushrooms and all the juices and hot butter and bacon juice dribbled down on to my T shirt as it was so wonderful, I did not care >>>!!!Thought I would share that with you,....

JOKING…. I am on a diet and had Muesli and non fat milk HAHAA.
Love Dad : Keep safe
