I thought you would like to see some pictures from a recent day trip we took to a very large lake in northern Iraq. We went there to do some business but were also able to take advantage of some "down time" to relax a little, meet some folks who were vacationing from Baghdad, and eat some local food. The water was very cool - beautiful scenery as you can see.

Hi Buddy,

These pictures are so great! Thanks for posting them.

I must say that you have turned my image of the area upside down... in my naive mind, I guess I didn't ever imagine a beautiful cold lake there. And the thought of a family picnicing also didn't enter my mind, so thanks for painting a few new images of the area and attempts at people living normal lives. (The next thing I am expecting is a picture of you shooting pool somewhere... yet I still doubt it.)

I'm sure that images and experiences like the lake, the families, the children and the watermelon are all things you need to bottle up to carry with you through the more difficult days and images. So I am glad to see you are savoring these things and sharing them with us.

Very glad to see the pic of your team too- I'm sure they adore you as much as your work team here does.

We miss you and are always in our prayers.
