The other day we went on a little sightseeing trip!

According to the history of the land, the Babylonian Empire was predominantly in what we now call Iraq. There are several key historical sites in Iraq such as the birthplace of Abraham (Ur), the city of Babylon, the city of Nineveh (ref: Jonah and the whale), etc. If there are Old Testament scholars out there, you will recall the story of the prophet Daniel, covered in the Book of Daniel.

According to the Bible, three Jewish friends of Daniel: Shadrach, Meschach and Aben-nego, refused to worship a statue that King Nebuchadnezzar had built for his people. Because they refused to worship they were thrown into a fiery furnace that had been heated "to seven times its normal heat." Not only were they unharmed, but they were accompanied by a fourth figure who "looks like a god" and was later identified by Nebuchadnezzar as an angel.

Why am I writing all of this? Well, we were able to visit the purported site of the fiery furnace. It is called the Eternal Flame by the locals and for some reason the fires still burn to this day.

So, being the adventurous guy that I am, I decided to get my picture taken while in this fiery furnace. Yes, it was hot - I actually walked through the pit being very careful not to step on the actual fires and not to breathe too much since it was so hot. And, by the way, the place really, really smelled of sulphur. But I am glad I got to see a biblical place.

Hello! at "mums" place still. Had a very good day today, had soccer camp as usual and then "mums" husband gave me a hot chocolate, and i got some free sugar cookies along the way. Then "mum" and I went shopping, instead of going to the beach because the traffic was REALLY bad! So, we took lots of pic. of me posing and stuff and at one store "mum" spent exactly one cent. anywasys, today me + Elles son went on a waterslide, which was fun. He cried though:( Elle, her son, "mum's" husband, and the middle child are about to watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Well, had a very good day today in all, and got to go,
love ya lots!

mum's husband here -- as you can see, the middle child has had a good time and we've enjoyed the day with her. Hope you had as good a day there. Luv from us all.

Tuesday. That was some sightseeing trip! Imagining the intense heat of the furnace had me walking (very briskly!) to get a glass of water.

The middle child continues to entertain us with her sense of humour and wit. Her funny antics whilst she and I were shopping today had me thankful that I had my camera handy. A bookstore, craft store, and foreign food store were on our list, and, in every store, she was the visiting "star" and I was the local photographer. This necessitated her poring over books, posing amidst the silk flowers wearing a bridal head-dress and holding a bouquet, and pretending to taste some rather questionable food. Needless to say, the middle child enjoyed every photo opportunity :)

When we returned home, the middle child and her cousin played water games (outside, I'm happy to say!) Mum and husband took photos
--at least two pages to scrapbook will be created to record the happy moments.

A banner day for fun.

Keep safe.

Love,

Mum

Wednesday. After soccer camp, the middle child and I met Mum's husband for lunch at a local restaurant. Grocery shopping followed and a trip to a craft store and then home so that the middle child could join her aunt for swimming. Once Elle's son was home, he and the middle child had great fun on the water slide in the garden, each trying to outdo the other with sliding speed. Oh, to be young again!

They're now winding down with ice-cream lollipops, two tired little puppies :)

Keep safe.

Love,

Mum

Thursday. The middle child has enjoyed another day of fun-filled activities. Soccer camp followed by lunch out, then home to paint a T-shirt and play water games with her cousin in the garden. After supper, we'll take a walk on the beach to end the day.

We're waving the middle child goodbye tomorrow and will miss her cheery ways :)

Keep safe.

Love,

Mum

Awesome. Am enjoying your little dialogs and insights. It's gotta be so incredible to stand on bible
land and feel the history. We went to a wedding in upper state New York over the weekend and took the kids so got to visit the Joseph Smith homestead, etc again. The gospel is so awesome.

Stay safe
